What is Tallow and What Are the Benefits of Using It?
Tallow is rendered fat that comes from cows that is incredibly nutritional. We only use 100% grass-fed grass-finished rendered fat from cows with ethical and sustainable farming practices that are completely free of antibiotics, hormone injections and pesticide exposure. Animal fats naturally contain fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12 that are all essential for good skin health as well as minerals. These vitamins help promote skin rejuvenation by fighting free radicals known to cause wrinkles and provide deep nourishment. These natural vitamins that are necessary for skin health also contain conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) which has anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, palmitoleic acid (Omega 7), palmitic acid alpha linoleic (Omega 3), linoleic acid (Omega 6), oleic acid (Omega 9) and stearic acid. Compatible with our own skin biology sharing many of the same lipids, tallow is incredibly similar to sebum (the fatty lubricant matter secreted by sebaceous glands of the skin) making it absorb into skin with ease giving skin the nourishment it craves while making skin feel soft and supple. Because tallow is able to penetrate the skin so easily, it is able to prevent dryness on a cellular level while not clogging pores. Tallow is such a versatile skin care product it can replace all moisturizers and body lotions and can be applied over the entire body and face.
Why Isn't Tallow Recognized More In Skincare?
Tallow has been used for thousands of years by our ancestors. It is an ancient tradition to skincare health that has unfortunately become foreign to our modern world. For centuries tallow was used as the main ingredient for salves, soaps, candles, creams, and even shampoo until the 1950's when the skin care industry decided money was more important than health. Then our skin and haircare products became lab-made with petroleum based harmful chemicals, synthetics, and ingredients that our skin was never meant to be introduced to. Many skincare products on the market today are still loaded with synthetics chemically derived from labs that can even cause hormone disruption for some. Even most "natural" products you see on the shelves in most stores still contain harmful chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, and other synthetic ingredients that "just made the cut" to slap a natural label on a product even though it is far from natural and clean. These terrible products that are mass produced only drain your pocket that truly do not give your skin and hair what it needs and craves. At NuPath Apothecary, we are passionate about about your skin and hair needs and are thankful for the opportunity to share what we have learned! Give us a try and you will see the natural, nourishing, and clean NuPath difference for yourself!
